The 2020 Face-to-Face WWCA Fall Clinic and
GMHOF banquet have been CANCELED.
Please read the letter from the WWCA Executive Board below.
June 30, 2020
WWCA members and supporters,
The Executive Board (Committee) of the Wisconsin Wrestling Coaches Association has made the difficult decision to cancel the WWCA Fall Clinic and George Martin Hall of Fame/WWCA Awards Banquet scheduled November 6-7, 2020 in Green Bay. Due to uncertainties involving the COVID-19 pandemic, the Board spent hours deliberating, debating and researching health concerns and financial consequences of hosting versus cancelling the 2020 event.
In lieu of a face-to-face event, the WWCA Executive Board is researching the implementation of a virtual event. The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) has chosen this path for their 2020 NWCA Convention with great enthusiasm. It is the WWCA Executive Board’s intent to provide a similar opportunity. The cost would be minimal to our membership and provide the same high-quality instruction and discussion sessions experienced at previous fall clinics. We hope you will consider joining your colleagues during this time, should the opportunity unfold, and encourage you to continue your membership in the WWCA.
The WWCA Executive Board will convene virtually in July and consider next steps of the George Martin Hall of Fame. Additionally, alternatives for the presentation of coaching awards will be studied as well as available options for conducting annual membership meetings. Coaches are strongly encouraged to continue self-reporting their milestones in coaching. Please visit the WWCA website for further information on self-reporting.
Wrestling has faced numerous challenges throughout history. However, with integrity, courage and tenacity it has overcome obstacles and ultimately prevailed. This challenge; along with those that we may still yet face, are no different. We will work through this together and become better coaches, better wrestlers, better people and a better sport!
Yours in wrestling,
2020 WWCA Executive Board
